RESTORED LIVES

Meet Amanda

What does Amanda remember most about her parents? Sadly, that they were never around… As her mom and dad struggled with addiction, their abandonment left a painful hole in her heart. Then, when she was only 7 years old, Amanda was sexually abused. Desperate to relieve the burden of all this trauma, as a teen she turned to drugs and alcohol. “I started looking for love and affection in places I didn’t belong,” she says. Instead of love, she only found more heartbreak… getting trapped in an abusive relationship for 10 years… losing her children… and facing jail time. “My whole life had fallen apart,” Amanda says, “But in jail, I met God.”

RESTORED LIVES

Meet Marcellus

Marcellus never imagined he would be homeless. He had a good job driving a truck. He owned his own home. Life was good. But things started to unravel after a falling out with his family left him all alone, without any emotional support network.
Heartbroken, Marcellus began slipping into what would become crippling depression. He eventually lost his job, then his home, and he relied on soup kitchens to get by. Thankfully, a kind stranger told him he could find lasting help at Buffalo City Mission, and he made his way to our door.

Wegmans just stopped by to make a donation of 30 cases of chicken broth to get us ready for the Buffalo Bills game this Sunday! 🏈They loved that the players were drinking broth on the sidelines, and thought what better way to show their support, then to give back to those in need! Our kitchen is already starting to prep to make homemade chicken noodle soup from the donated broth. We can't wait to serve it to our residents as a delicious, hot snack while they watch the game this weekend. Go Bills! ❤💙#BuffaloCityMission #GoBills #Wegmans #letsgobuffalo ... See MoreSee Less
