Community Services

Community Preventative Services

The Community Services offered at Buffalo City Mission are designed to help prevent homelessness through assessment, linkage and referral to necessary services and engage the community by providing unique opportunities and personal experiences.

The Community Services department works diligently to not only connect our men, women and families with the services they need, but to also connect the community to all aspects of the City Mission. We strive to offer unique opportunities and personal experiences that lead to personal growth, fulfillment, and creativity while paving the way to find wholeness in Christ.

Music programs, art programs, connections to high schools and theatre programs, fitness and nutrition classes and job fairs bring the community to our Mission for us to connect and grow together. We also work hand in hand with the Mission’s Spiritual Ministry Department to connect with local churches and worship teams from all over WNY.

The Buffalo City Mission is now the centralized point of contact where men, women and families experiencing homelessness, and especially those on the brink of homelessness, will have onsite access to preventive services including medical care, legal aid, mental health services, housing professionals, and many others.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

– 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4
