Men's Ministries - Buffalo City Mission

Men’s Ministries

Here at the BCM our goal is not simply to serve the hurting and homeless, but to pull poverty and homelessness out of their lives at its roots.

Each year, more than 1,916 men seek services at the Buffalo City Mission’s – Men’s Community Center. Often we find that, once a man has received basic care services such as- food and shelter, he will consider making a more transformative choice such as joining the Mission’s – Dream Transitional Housing Program – a program that offers freedom from the past and hope for the future!

“My goal is to have a stable living, make sure my finances are stable, and have a stable place to live. I would like to become a counselor and come back to volunteer.”   –  Resident Tommie

This program provides each individual with a pathway to a stable life through the education and skill training resources provided to lift them out of poverty and on a road to a better life.

Men’s Testimony:

Cory, a former vet, walked into Buffalo City Mission as a man under the control of his addiction to alcohol. Drinking had ruined his life. Now, after following the steps of the DREAM, Cory is helping others—in fact, he is the president of our DREAM program among the residents, the one others can turn to when issues arise. Cory credits both God and all the support he received at Buffalo City Mission with his recovery. He’s been sober for more than four years! Cory’s mentor in the program is Mike Robinson. Cory said, “Mike is the sober father I never had.”
Now Cory is on his way to getting a Human Services certificate so he can mentor others as a drug and alcohol counselor. He has come full circle and is living proof of the effectiveness of the DREAM.
