Buffalo City Mission’s vision is to restore hope to the homeless and hurting of Western New York. We provide emergency shelter and nourishing meals to thousands of homeless men, women and children. But we don’t believe that’s enough.

With the strengths of our Men’s Center and our new state-of-the-art shelter for women and children, Cornerstone Manor, Buffalo City Mission provides comprehensive recovery programs to help homeless men, women and children rebuild stable, healthy, productive lives.

Job Description:
This position advocates and provides holistic, comprehensive case management services to clients including intake assessment, benefit assessment, goal setting, long-term case plan development, weekly case plan development, progress monitoring, individual money management, tenant education, advocacy and referrals.
• Work Schedule: Full time position, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

Key responsibilities
:
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to collect functional, environmental, psychosocial, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information as appropriate to develop a case plan.
  • Conduct an Initiate Individual Service Plan (ISP) by assisting participants in realistic goal setting, program selection, designing outcomes and helping clients understand their responsibilities and program benefits.
  • Conduct assessment intake with individuals who express interest in entering the Transitional Program.
  • Identify and address potential problem areas/ concerns. Consult appropriately with director, staff, and agencies. Conducts crisis intervention as necessary.

Grant Administrator for Buffalo City Mission

Job Description:
The Grant administrator primarily plans, organizes and directs: 1) all aspects related to grants including seeking, tracking, monitoring, funding, and administration; 2) supports the Executive Director and CFO in the carrying out of their responsibilities as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Full time position.  Some night, weekends and holidays may be required as needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be the primary driver for BCM to secure and manage grant funding.
  • Work directly with BCM’s Executive Director, CFO and Senior Directors to ensure that appropriate grants are being sought to maximize grant opportunities and funding.
  • Ensure the accurate, timely, efficient and transparent process for the entire grant life cycle, from proposal to close. This entails pre-award management, tracking payments, reviewing and producing relevant reports, and monitoring for grants as needed.
  • Work closely with the CFO and Director-Finance to make sure grant income is properly recorded/allocated and received in the accounting system.
  • Work with Senior Directors to develop and maintain all grant agreements pertaining to grant awards and applications.
  • Keep management informed of the grant performance and provide advice on all related matters.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as English/Accounting or equivalent work experience.

Manager - Case Management at Buffalo City Mission

Job Description:
Manages case management services including but not limited to supervision of case managers, counseling, emergency, transitional housing, and supportive housing services. Also provides intensive case management, documenting all program outcomes, and reporting to funders.

Key responsibilities:
• Implement the program design in accordance with Buffalo City Mission (BCM) policies and procedures.
• Lead the case management team in working collaboratively with the other BCM departments to ensure comprehensive services to the clients.
• Monitor staff and conduct assessment intake as needed with clients who express interest in entering the Dream Program.
• Initiate Individual Service Plan (ISP) by assisting participants in realistic goal setting and monitor progress of target goal achievement dates.
• Network with service agencies to promote relationships with collaborating agencies.
• Administrate County Welfare to Work Program at MCC and CSM.
• Conduct case conferences, case management staff meetings, and in-service trainings.
• Facilitate resident education classes as needed to support resident skill building.
• Facilitate the coordination of Code Blue Services as needed during the season when BCM is awarded the grant.

Successful candidates will have
:
• Bachelor Degree in Human Services or a related field or the equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 years managing programs and minimum 3 years of professional experience working in a social service case management capacity
• Knowledge in Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Domestic Violence is required.
• Working with homeless or low-income families and substantial knowledge of community resources helpful.
• Bi-lingual language a plus.

Risk Managment Lead

This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining a supportive, safe, secure environment for all individuals including clients, staff, volunteers and guests of the City Mission as well as reporting all possible risk to safety and or security at the Mission’s facilities.

Hours: Full time, no more than 40 hours/week, shifts are as follows:
7a.m. – 3:00p.m., 3:00p.m. – 11:00p.m. and 11:00p.m. – 7a.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for training security staff on processes and polices of the organization and report status to Director –  Risk Management.
  • Oversee shifts of contract security and work together to complete post orders
  • Monitor client and guests activity, assuring the environment remains safe and secure.
  • Assist Director – Risk Management with enforcing all safety and security policies and procedures consistently.
  • Document all safety and security incidents and log unusual occurrences in security log.
  • Greet all guests and facilitate the sign in process for all volunteers and guests that enter into the facility.

• Work Schedule: Part time – flexible afternoon and evening hours, Monday through Saturday including Holidays, up to 28 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist in a manner representative of the Mission and its values.
  • Operate cash register to cash-out customer selections and bag purchases.
  • Maintain the store including stocking shelves, re-hanging items, keeping the dressing rooms empty of discarded selections, returning merchandise to their proper area and creating displays.
  • Receive incoming merchandise and sort, tag and price donations.
  • Test electrical appliances and determine the usability of furniture and home décor.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds above waist level.

  • Observe all safety standards in the proper loading and unloading truck.
  • Check to ensure that truck cab and box are clean and all personal items are removed daily.

Job Description:
This position is a part-time position responsible for the transportation of clients and staff as needed.  This position reports to the Manager-Residential Services. This is a part time position up to 28 hours per week.

Key responsibilities:
•    Check and print the CLIENT SERVICE VAN SCHEDULE located in Outlook schedule for daily appointments and trips with vehicle.
•    Observe all safety standards in the proper embarkation and disembarking from van.
•    Maintain complete and accurate records including driving log.
•    Install child safety seat as needed for child of appropriate size and location, inspect and authorize child safety seats provided by parent and verify that car seat expiration date is current to code.
•    Ensure that all passengers are using safety belts, including infant/child seats as designed.
•    Acquire the Vehicle Safety Form from the logistics department, perform daily walk around inspection of vehicle and turn form into Logistics Manager daily.
•    Operate vehicle in accordance to the laws of New York State and the expectations of the Buffalo City Mission as detailed in driver orientation.
•    Treat all customers courteously and in a manner representative of the Mission and its values.
•    Provide assistance to clients and personnel when driving them to appropriate locations as detailed on daily task/destination log.
•    Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment. Obey all traffic regulations.
