Prayer Support

When we work, we work.  When we pray, God works!

Prayer is the heart of our ministry at Buffalo City Mission.  Bringing the message of hope and healing to the homeless is not an easy task. We must rely upon God's guidance and blessing to bring about lasting change in the lives of broken men, women and children here in Western New York.

We invite you to become a Prayer Warrior and pray regularly for Buffalo City Mission and those we serve.  If you’d like to become a Prayer Warrior and receive our e-mail updates, please contact Aubrey Calhoun, director of community relations, at (716) 854-8181, ext. 401 or e-mail acalhoun@buffalocitymission.org.

While specific prayer needs vary from day to day, there are continuing areas that need persistent and fervent prayer. These include:

• The influence of "the streets" upon men and women residents trying to follow God and repair their lives.

• Substance abuse issues, which affect many of the people we serve.

• Strength, courage and discipline for the men and women who have completed our recovery programs and are preparing to leave Buffalo City Mission and rejoin productive society.

• Those who receive hot, nutritious meals at the Mission, that they will be fed body and soul.

• Our staff and volunteers who give greatly of themselves each day so those in need can find hope and healing.

Prayer and Praise

“For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20

We count on your prayers to strengthen Buffalo City Mission’s ministries to the homeless.

Please pray for:

• Women and children in our recovery program as they learn to become productive and stable parents and community members.

• Christians to answer the call to volunteer at Cornerstone Manor, supplementing our staff and providing extra helping hands that reflect Christ’s love.

• Homeless and addicted women on the streets who have not yet found the courage to call for help.  They are broken, hopeless and need God’s forgiveness and mercy.

Praise God for:

• The exciting character and academic improvements women in our Serenity Program are achieving.

• The hundreds of donors and volunteers who answer God’s call to give and work on behalf of homeless women and their children.

• Our beautiful new Cornerstone Manor building!  For nine months, our staff and residents have enjoyed its comfortable suites, gleaming classrooms, homey living areas and spacious kitchen and dining hall.  God used so many generous people to make it a reality.

Can we pray for you?

Do you need prayer?  Our staff is committed to praying for our donors.  If you have a prayer request, please e-mail it to acalhoun@buffalocitymission.org.  We’ll pray for you in an upcoming staff meeting.
