In-kind Donations
Ways to Share through Material Gifts
Every year, we reach thousands of people with life-giving help. It takes a lot to sustain a ministry of our size. Our annual budget includes the cost of meeting the daily needs of many men, women and children. We must provide everything from milk, toothpaste and laundry soap to Bibles, shoes and cold medicines.
To do so, we rely on the generosity of individuals, churches, businesses and civic groups who extend their support through in-kind donations. Each item donated by friends like you frees up dollars that can be used to purchase other general fund needs.
We welcome in-kind donations of:
Food: Buffalo City Mission serves about 180,000 meals a year—that’s more than 380 meals a day! We always need fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, cheese, hot and cold cereals, and other staples.
Personal items: Like your family, our “family” uses personal items such as disposable shavers, antiperspirant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath soap and shampoo.
Over-the-counter medicines: The homeless and impoverished often suffer with stomach and respiratory conditions, foot problems and seasonal illnesses. You can help with donations of nonalcoholic cold and flu medications; pain relievers; antacids; foot powders and creams; Benadryl; cough drops and sinus medications.
Clothing: While our homeless guests and recovery program residents rebuild their self-esteem and other inner qualities, we want to provide clothing so their “outward” appearance reflects their life change. Socks and underwear, jeans, coats, work shoes, tennis shoes and dress shirts are needed in all sizes (especially extra large and tall sizes).
Household furniture, appliances and household items: Gently used furniture, appliances and household items are always in great demand at Buffalo City Mission Thrift Store.
When you give, please remember to:
• Bring new, clean and gently used items in closed boxes or tied bags. Don’t give torn, stained or broken items that will cost the Mission money to dispose of.
• Drop off in-kind donations at the Men’s Center, 100 E. Tupper Street, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Call (716) 995-2476 to request a donation pick up.
Thanks for serving the homeless and poor through your donations!
